Summer breezes… an intimate courtyard… free parking… and great music. Escape to Culver City for the 17th annual Culver City Music Festival. The Culver City Redevelopment Agency presents 8 free concerts on Thursday evenings at 7 pm from July 7 through August 25 in the palm-lined courtyard of Culver City City Hall.
Curated by producer Gary Mandell of Culver City’s Boulevard Music, the 17th annual Culver City Music Festival offers something for everyone: fiery Spanish Flamenco and percussion with Incendio and Argentinian rock with Los Pinguos (July 7); Reggae with Ghanaian star Rocky Dawuni and his 11-piece band (July 14); Afro-Cuban salsa with Ricardo Lemvo and Makina Loca (July 21); acoustic Celtic band Molly’s Revenge with special guest vocalist Christa Burch (July 28); rock and rockabilly from guitar legend Albert Lee, backed by the Carl Verheyen Band (August 4); and Beatles tribute band 4 Lads from Liverpool (August 11). Jazz Bakery Movable Feast presents the final two concerts in the series: jazz quartet Woodford, Ehling, Ratner & Wallace with guest vocalist Dwight Trible (August 18), and living Conguero legend Poncho Sanchez and his Latin Jazz Band (August 25).
