PEP GRANTS NOW AVAILABLE! The Parks Division of the Culver City Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Department is now awarding Park Enhancement Program (PEP) grants and invites you to apply! PEP is a “mini-grant” program of the City Council that is designed for neighborhood groups, service organizations, businesses and community-spirited individuals. The program awards grants up to $500 per park, to a total of $5,000 annually for park beautification, renovation and maintenance projects. Currently, projects must be on park land or open space owned by Culver City. As of July 1, 2008, some projects on CCUSD property are eligible for PEP.
Get inspiration for your project by visiting Syd Kronenthal and Lindberg Parks where Boy Scout Troops painted and refurbished the fitness equipment. In Fox Hills Park, the Fox Hills Neighborhood Association painted benches and railings and planted ground cover. The Friends of the Culver City Dog Park built a fenced large-dog time-out area at the Boneyard in Culver City Park. “Youth Making Changes” cleaned the Culver City Teen Center patio and painted a vibrant, inspirational eco-mural on the interior of the patio’s brick wall. Culver City Little Leagues refurbished their grass infields at Bill Botts Field. The Studio Estates Entry Garden was edged and weeded by a neighborhood group and ground cover was planted to beautify the entryway. The Gold Star Mothers rededicated and improved their Rose Garden at the Culver City Senior Center. View photos and more information on all of these park enhancement projects.
