Vial of Life ProgramVial of Life Program:

The Vial of Life program provides important health information to the Fire Department and Paramedics in an emergency. It is a form that is filled out in advance with information and stored in a labeled baggie. The participant puts a sticker on or near their front door to inform the emergency workers that this information is available, and then they put a sticker on the baggie with the from inside. In an emergency, the Vial of Life will speak for you when you can't. To receive a Vial of Life, contact Disability Services.

Emergency Preparedness for People with Disabilities:

Various emergency preparedness materials developed specifically for people with disabilities and other special needs are available. Contact the Disability Services Program or the Culver City Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for copies. In addition, the Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management has made available a helpful brochure Emergency Preparedness: Tips for People with Disabilities and Limitations that provides a great deal of useful information on how to prepare for yourself.

The City of Culver City has a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) that includes community members with disabilities. CERT members have been trained in various techniques to help prepare for and respond to local disasters and large scale emergencies. CERT members are encouraged to identify people with disabilities in their neighborhoods and determine the special needs of each individual. For more information on the CERT Program, please call the City's Emergency Preparedness Office at (310) 253-5909 or by email.
