Conducts follow-up investigation on certain types of traffic crimes as well as vehicle code violations such as drunk driving.

This section is responsible for follow-up investigating of all felony and misdemeanor crimes. The unit also investigates various non-criminal matters, including missing adults, and matters wherein an investigation would be beneficial to public welfare and matters required by statute. These Detectives investigate approximately 4,200 crimes each year.

This section is responsible for investigating all crimes by and against all persons under the age of 18.

This unit is responsible for working specific crime patterns, stakeouts, and surveillance as appropriate.

Crime Prevention (310) 253-6104
Represents the Chief of Police at neighborhood watch meetings throughout the city. Also inspects and recommends procedures for better safety measures at residences and businesses.

Researches and attempts to obtain law enforcement-related grants that may assist the police department in providing a high level of police protection to our city.

Juvenile Diversion (310) 253-6316
The objective of Juvenile Diversion Program is to take a proactive approach to helping "juveniles-at-risk." This includes them into programs that will help them with their situations.

Reserves (310) 253-6273
Recruits, trains, and deploys volunteers who have attended a police reserve academy and supplement police officers at various events and functions.

School Resource Officers (310) 253-6317
This program puts police officers on the school campuses. Working with both the schools and juvenile detectives, officers contact students who are truant, involved in criminal activity and investigate crimes occurring in or around the campuses.

Senior Volunteers (310) 253-6300
This unit is comprised of seniors who volunteer their time to help with data entry, crime analysis, and other related duties.
