Environmental Programs & Operations
During budget sessions of 2007, enhancements to the Public Works Department (PWD) revolved around reorganization and formation of a new division under Public Works superseding the Sanitation Division. The new division is aptly named the Environmental Programs and Operations (EPO) Division.
Environmental Programs and Operations (EPO) will focus efforts in the area of environmental programs and operations related to refuse and recycling, stormwater, and sewer system management. EPO takes pride in the privilege of bringing quality services to the community for the purpose of both maintaining and enhancing Culver City’s infrastructure and environment. The overall division goal is to continue to improve our delivery of services, seek new funding sources including grants to meet the City’s infrastructure needs, continue to look for ways to enhance services especially in the areas of resource conservation, environmental and public health protection, solid waste diversion and recycling, community education and land use.
Accordingly, PWD’s reorganization plan includes expanding the existing Sanitation Division to form the new division. EPO will oversee Sanitation and Transfer Station Operations, Stormwater Program Development NPDES and the new state waste discharge requirements for the City’s sewer operation. This reorganized division will concentrate the major environmental programs under one roof and will more closely align the City’s stormwater and sewer programs with the field crews responsible for the day to day operation of the City’s stormwater and sewer systems. The new Environmental Programs and Operations Division is lead by Damian Skinner, the former Sanitation Division Manager and his team of professionals.
