Culver CityBus accepts the Transit Access Pass (TAP).
TAP is a convenient way to pay your fare.
It's a durable plastic card with an electronic chip inside that you can use again and again. In order for the card to be valid, you must load it with cash value. Your TAP card will automatically remember your account balance and can be reloaded by visiting us at Culver City City Hall
or the Transportation Department Facilities
Here"s how it works:
Here"s why TAP is a better way to pay your fare:
- Tap your card on the farebox located at the front of the bus near the entrance.
- A "beep" will sound and a message will appear on the farebox showing that your card is valid.
- Relax and enjoy your ride!
- It's SMART - Your TAP card actually remembers how much money you have stored on it.
- It's SIMPLE - With TAP, all you do is tap the farebox upon boarding the bus and go.
- It's SECURE - Your TAP card can be replaced if you lose it so you don't need to carry cash.
Just sign up for free Balance Protection and your TAP card can be easily replaced if lost or stolen. Register your card online at www.taptogo.net or call 866.TAPTOGO (827.8646). If your card is lost or stolen, you can get a replacement card that includes the remaining balance of your previous passes and previous cash value balance already loaded on it. (Currently, Balance Protection is free, but may cost up to $5 in the future.)
Will Metro accept my TAP card?
Yes, your TAP card can be used on Metro bus and rail. When you use your TAP card to ride Metro, Metro"s fare will be deducted from the card. Remember, the TAP card is SMART, so if you are entitled to a reduced fare on Metro and carrying a reduced fare TAP card, the appropriate fare will be deducted.
What is the difference between stored cash value and passes?
Currently, Culver CityBus accepts bus fare from the stored value portion of the TAP card. The TAP card can be loaded with any amount of cash you want. Each time you tap your card on the farebox, the fare will automatically be deducted from the card.
Other agencies that accept TAP, such as Los Angeles Metro, may also accept passes (i.e. monthly passes, day passes, etc.) which can be loaded onto the TAP card. Keep in mind, a cash fare cannot be deducted from a pass purchased from another agency. You must add cash value to your TAP card in order for it to be valid on Culver CityBus.
How do I transfer from one Culver CityBus to another Culver CityBus using a TAP card?
Simply tap your TAP card on the farebox. The base fare will be deducted from your card. Ask the Culver CityBus Operator for a Local Transfer and tap your card again to pay for the transfer. The Operator will then give you a paper transfer.
How do I transfer to other transit systems using a TAP card?
When transferring from Culver CityBus to another transit system, tap your TAP card to pay the base fare. Ask the Culver CityBus Operator for an Inter-Agency transfer and tap your card again to pay for the transfer. The Operator will then give you a paper transfer.
When transferring from another transit system to Culver CityBus, pay cash for the transfer and you will be given a paper transfer to use when boarding Culver CityBus.
Where can I purchase or reload my TAP card?
You may purchase or reload cash value to your TAP card at the following locations:

9770 Culver Boulevard
Culver City, California 90232
