Culver City Honored by Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors
On Tuesday, October 3, 2017, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors presented a scroll the City of Culver City in honor of Culver City’s Centennial! City Council Member Jim B. Clarke and Culver City Centennial Committee President Paul Jacobs received the scroll on behalf of the City. City Council Member Clarke made the following remarks during the presentation:
“On behalf of Mayor Jeffrey Cooper and my colleagues on the City Council, I thank Chairman Ridley-Thomas, Members of the Board of Supervisors, and staff for recognizing Culver City’s Centennial which occurred on September 20. We may have turned 100 years old, but we don’t look it! We continue to maintain Harry Culver’s vision of making Culver City a great place to live, work, learn and play. We have had an exciting and event packed year-long celebration, and I want to take this occasion to invite you all to a Bi-Centennial celebration in 2117! Again, I appreciate your recognition, and I want to present you with a Culver City lapel pin as a thank you.
It is difficult to fully enjoy today’s event in light of the recent natural disasters and horrific shooting that have occurred. If there is anything good to come out of these events, it is how communities, and strangers have come together to assist others. It makes me proud to be an American,” said Council Member Clarke.
