This inventive rock musical follows the band Jason and the Argonauts as they journey towards Hollywood stardom while braving the trials of scoring a recording contract with Mount Olympus Productions, and the temptations of Ambrosia, food of the Gods, offered by punk band The Furies. All the while, lead singer Jason must overcome the shadow of his father Orpheus. With a clever, modern take on a classic Greek legend, a diverse and eclectic mix of songs, skillfully choreographed dance numbers, and a talented cast of triple threats, this original musical is sure to please local audiences.
The script, lyrics and music are produced by Angus MacDonald, Founder of Monarch Theatre Guild, a non-profit organization committed to producing and performing socially relevant musicals. The cast sings live to a full length, professionally recorded instrumental score by LA based composer Mika Krstic. Dances are choreographed by Pebbles Vadakan, Founder of the MIT Dance Troupe and recipient of the Laya and Jerome B. Wiesner Award for Contribution to the Arts. The production stars Edgar Khatchatrian and Emma Rose Tarr in the lead roles of Jason and Mae Dea respectively.
