CULVER CITY: A BRIEF BACKGROUND
The City of Culver City is a charter city incorporated in 1917, with a population of approximately 40,000 within five square miles and surrounded by nearly 370,000 households within a five mile radius. Centrally located between the beach and downtown Los Angeles, Culver City is six miles north of Los Angeles International Airport and strategically located near the intersection of the Santa Monica (I-10), San Diego (I-405) Freeways, and the eastern terminus of the Marina Freeway (SR-90).

  • Fire Services - The Culver City Fire Department became the first Department in California to be accredited by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI), and remains 1 of only 7 agencies in California CFAI accredited. In addition, the Department is also an Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) Class 1 agency as a result of superior property fire protection, resulting in generally lower premiums and fire insurance costs for both home and business property in the community.
  • Police Services - Culver City provides a full-service Police Department that includes detective, traffic and special investigations. The Culver City Police Department is a law enforcement agency consisting of 117 men and women dedicated to providing the highest level of police service to the residents, businesses, and visitors making Culver City one of the safest cities in California.
