The City of Culver City and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association present Music in the Chambers, featuring members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a free Neighborhood Chamber Music Concert, on Thursday, March 22, 2012. Music in the Chambers, sponsored by Sony Pictures Entertainment, is an intimate music program presented in the Mike Balkman Council Chambers at Culver City City Hall. City Hall is located at 9770 Culver Boulevard in Downtown Culver City. Complimentary parking is located in City Hall Garage and Downtown’s many restaurants are open before and after the performance. The concert, which features a string quartet, begins at 7pm and is free and open to the public. More information is available by calling the City of Culver City’s Cultural Affairs Hotline at (310) 253-5716.

Music in the Chambers formerly funded by the Culver City Redevelopment Agency will receive alternative private funding this year and will not be supported by the City General Fund. The concert will feature a string quartet arranged by Los Angeles Philharmonic violinist Robert Vijay Gupta who will perform along with Jin-Shan Dai (violin), Ben Ullery (viola), and Jonathan Karoly (cello). The program will include music by Anton Webern, Ludwig Van Beethoven and others. A question and answer session with the musicians will follow the performance.

Music in the Chambers is a participant in the Los Angeles Philharmonic's Neighborhood Concerts program which includes free orchestra, chamber music and jazz concerts in churches, community centers and other local venues around Southern California. The Los Angeles Philharmonic has been presenting free neighborhood and community concerts for the past 20 years, as part of the organization's dedication to making music accessible to the widest possible audience. These concerts are supported by a grant from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission. The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, under the vibrant leadership of Music Director Gustavo Dudamel, presents an inspiring array of music from all genres – orchestral, chamber and Baroque music, organ and celebrity recitals, new music, jazz, world music and pop – at two of L.A.’s iconic venues, Walt Disney Concert Hall (www.laphil.com) and the Hollywood Bowl (www.hollywoodbowl.com). The LA Phil’s season at Walt Disney Concert Hall extends from October through May, and throughout the summer at the Hollywood Bowl. With the preeminent Los Angeles Philharmonic at the foundation of its offerings, the LA Phil aims to enrich and transform lives through music, with a robust mix of artistic, education and community programs.
