Is there a limit to how much I can increase the rent?No, however, a tenant may file a request for mediation with the Landlord Tenant Mediation Board if she/he feels the increase is excessive.
Where can I get a request for mediation?You may call the housing office at (310) 253-5780 or you may download the request (Forms). Please remember that in order for the mediation to be mandatory, the housing office must receive the completed request within 15 days of the receipt of the rent increase notice.
How much notice do I need to give my tenants of a rent increase? It is always best to give as much notice as possible, however, increases less than 10% require a minimum of 30 days and increases of 10% or more require a 60 day minimum notice.
