Senior Housing Alternatives

The waiting list for Section 8 rental assistance often makes the program inaccessible to senior's immediate housing needs.
Therefore, the Culver City Housing Agency maintains a number of alternatives and housing referrals.

Alternative Living for the Aging
Program Currently on Hold

The Housing Agency contracts with Alternative Living for the Aging, a non-profit organization, which provides shared housing services for seniors and other Culver City residents.

Alternative Living for the Aging has successfully facilitated matching over 5,200 older people to share housing. They also match live-in students and middle-aged individuals with older people to assist with household responsibilities in exchange for reduced or free rent.

If you:
  • have an extra room in your house or apartment;
  • want to increase your feeling of security;
  • feel lonely living by yourself, especially during the evening hours; or
  • need help with light housework, cooking and shopping...
