Mission Statement
Technical Services manages the operations and daily support for the computer and non Public Safety data and telecommunications infrastructure, network, server, and client computing resources of the City.

What is Technical Services?
Technical Services is the operations and support arm of the Information Technology Department. Consisting of a Manager, three Information Systems Analysts, a Help Desk Technician, a Telecommunications Analyst, and an Intern the division is responsible for a large scope of activities.

Technical Services is the primary support arm for computer systems outside the Culver City Police Department. Culver City's Data Center comprises over 70 servers. There are 205 printers and 460 Personal Computers spread across City Hall, Fire Stations 1, 2, and 3, the Veteran's Complex, Transportation Facility, Public Services Building, Fire Training Facility, Transfer Station, and Ivy Substation.

Phone support covers Parks and Recreation sites in addition to the sites equipped with computers. Technical Services provides backup support to the Police's Data Support Unit on resources used by the City as a whole and for non-911 phone lines.

Technical Services Formal Work Plan

  • Complete enhancement of City network backbone to support traffic intensive capabilities.
  • Deploy Intranet/Internet hardware, software, and applications.
  • Implement systems, policies, procedures, and workflows to make data available to end users.
  • Continue skill upgrade (training) of Information Technology personnel to support new technologies.
  • Enhance data storage capacity of City network as part of new projects.
  • Enhance Internet and internal security.
  • Explore new technologies for the City including VOIP, virtual server technology, wireless, and centralized management.
