CAROL SCHWAB, CITY ATTORNEY


Carol Schwab joined the Culver City City Attorney’s Office in 1987 as a Deputy City Attorney. She was appointed Acting City Attorney in 1997 and City Attorney in January, 1998, by the City Council. She currently advises the City Council, City Departments, represents the City in all legal matters, and has been an advisor to the Civil Service Commission, Planning Commission, and City Committees. Ms. Schwab earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, San Francisco, Hastings College of the Law; a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Southern California, with a certificate in Environmental Management; and a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to her employment with the City, Ms. Schwab practiced municipal law as an associate with the law firm of Burke, Williams & Sorenson; served as a Policy Analyst for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and a Legislative Analyst for Congressman Jerry Litton, in Washington, D.C. She is a participant in the City Attorney’s Association of Los Angeles County; a member of the American Bar Association; L.A. County Bar, Public Law Section; and the Culver/Marina Bar Association. Ms. Schwab was raised in Culver City and is a graduate of Culver City High School.
