Parks and Recreation Master Plan

Parks and Recreation Master PlanThe 2009 Parks and Recreation Master Plan is a comprehensive report that catalogues and analyzes the condition of the City of Culver City’s recreation programs and facilities; it presents recommendations for the future growth and development of parks and recreation that are based on the cornerstones of public input, objective data, technical expertise and emerging best practices. The project was initiated by the Administrative Division of the Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Department with the support of the PRCS Commission. The document was commissioned by the City Council on March 6, 2007 and was developed over the next two years by Moore, Iacofano, Goltsman, Inc.

The Master Planning process involved a substantial amount of community outreach and participation, including three Master Plan Public Workshops, a Parks and Facilities Focus Group, a Leisure Programs Focus Group and three Veterans’ Memorial Park Conceptual Plan community meetings. The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission played an integral role in the process, with their final review of the document occurring at the May 5, 2009 meeting. The Master Plan, with Appendices, serves as both a reference guide and a blueprint to shape park and recreation programs and facilities in Culver City for many years to come.
