General services offered to Culver City residents with disabilities include:
- Facilitation of Paratransit Transportation Program for qualifying Disabled Residents of any age
- Referrals to programs or services that meet expressed needs
- Variety of recreational opportunities and special events
- Communication with City Departments as needed to address barriers and expressed concerns
- Friendly Phone Call Program
- Support Groups, Seminars, and Workshops
- Home Delivered Meal Program for At-Risk Senior Citizens
- Merlin Magnification Machine for Public Use
- Dining & Entertainment Events for Adults with Disabilities
- Large Print Library & Books on Tape for Public Use
- Accepts requests for accommodations, interpreters, materials in accessible formats, and/or any other form of access for any City sponsored meeting
- Responding to complaints regarding non-compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act

The Disability Advisory Committee
Members of the public are welcome to attend regular meetings of the Disability Advisory Committee, which typically meets the second Wednesday of every other month. Times are usually in the evening 6:15 - 7:30 p.m. at the Senior Center, but are subject to change. Please contact the Disability Services Office for information on upcoming meetings or

Access in the City
- There are more than 2000 curb cuts creating a path of travel throughout the City that lead to transportation, shopping centers, municipal buildings, medical facilities, schools, playgrounds, etc.
- Additional curbs have been cut in residential neighborhoods by request
- There is an assistive listening system for the hearing impaired installed in the City Council Chambers, the Senior Center, Ivy Substation and the Veteran's Memorial Auditorium
- Braille signage is installed at City Hall, as well as signage in the Veteran's Memorial Building and the Senior Center
- More than 30 Culver City street intersections have audible traffic signals for the visually impaired
- All City Buildings and parks are accessible, including ramps where needed, accessible parking, many automatic doors, lowered drinking fountains, accessible restrooms and pay phone TTY's at City Hall, the Veterans Memorial Building and the Senior Center.
- Contact the Public Works Department for curb cuts and residential blue zones.
Vial of Life Program:
The Vial of Life program provides important health information to the Fire Department and Paramedics in an emergency. It is a form that is filled out in advance with information and stored in a labeled baggie. The participant puts a sticker on or near their front door to inform the emergency workers that this information is available, and then they put a sticker on the baggie with the from inside. In an emergency, the Vial of Life will speak for you when you can't. To receive a Vial of Life, contact Disability Services.
Emergency Preparedness for People with Disabilities:
Various emergency preparedness materials developed specifically for people with disabilities and other special needs are available. Contact the Disability Services Program or the Culver City Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for copies. In addition, the Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management has made available a helpful brochure Emergency Preparedness: Tips for People with Disabilities and Limitations that provides a great deal of useful information on how to prepare for yourself.
Add to your support system by registering with SNAP, Los Angeles County's voluntary disaster registry. SNAP stands for Specific Needs Awareness Planning
- SNAP can help emergency personnel find people who may need additional assistance in a disaster.
- Registering with SNAP is a simple and key step you can take to prepare yourself for natural and man-made disasters.
- SNAP can also provide you with helpful information to assist you and your family inpreparing for disasters in Los Angeles County. Click here to reach the SNAP web site.
The City of Culver City has a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) that includes community members with disabilities. CERT members have been trained in various techniques to help prepare for and respond to local disasters and large scale emergencies. CERT members are encouraged to identify people with disabilities in their neighborhoods and determine the special needs of each individual.
