Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

The CERT Program is designed to train residents to assist safety personnel and City staff in the event of a major disaster. Volunteers from the community are trained in first aid, light search and rescue, minor fire suppression, and other skills that are critical in the first few hours of a disaster.

The Culver City Community Emergency Response Team is supervised by Capt. Darryl Wells of the Culver City Fire Department. After completing training, members are assigned to one of three districts based on where they live. Each district is led by a District Manager. Team members are all volunteers and may be called upon at anytime to assist the Culver City Fire Department with sandbagging to prevent further storm damage, assist in the event of an earthquake or other disaster, or any other time.

CERT members also receive additional training throughout the year in order to better assist the Fire Department and Community. Some members have received Sand Bag training and have observed an auto extrication.
