Initial Basic Training Courses
We would like you to join our Team! Become a member of Culver City's Community Emergency Response Team and Make a Difference in Culver City in the event of a disaster.
Firefighters and CERT instructors will train you to help your family & neighbors by teaching you to be better prepared first.
The 22 hours of training, divided into four classes, includes an Introduction to Disaster Response, Disaster First Aid, Fire Suppression, Light Search and Rescue, Disaster Psychology, Hazardous Materials, Terrorism Awareness and Incident Command. The training is "hands on" requiring students to actually do what they learn in class. There is a "mock earthquake" drill on the last day where students apply all of the training that they have learned.
CPR Classes
CERT members may receive CPR training from the Fire Department. Upon completion, members will receive their cards which are valid for two years. Four-hour CPR courses are offered by the Fire Department's "So Others May Live" program and are open to all Culver City residents. Call 310-253-5999 ext.6891 or click here for information on CPR courses.
Amateur Radio Class and Test
CERT members may take the Technician Class test needed to join CCARES (Culver City Amateur Radio Emergency Service). It's a 35 question multiple choice test and the cost for the test is $4.00. This fee is for processing your test only. The instruction is free to CERT members. Members should study the question pool before attending the test. Tests are given when members show an interest.
