Fire Prevention The Fire Prevention Division is responsible for maintaining a reasonable level of protection of life and property from the hazards created by fire, explosion, and hazardous materials. Conducting field inspections at businesses, apartment buildings, schools, and public assemblies as well as conducting plan reviews and inspections of new construction, tenant improvements, and automatic fire protection systems accomplish this. The Fire Prevention Division also issues business regulatory permits designed to reduce hazardous conditions and conducts fire cause of origin investigations to determine if a fire was accidental or arson.

Emergency Services-Fire Three strategically located fire stations house engine and truck companies that provide fire suppression and rescue services. The companies are cross-trained in a variety of operations and equipped to respond to any type of emergency including: medical emergencies, hazardous materials, physical rescues, and swift-water rescue. The Fire Suppression Division includes both Hazardous Materials Response and Heavy Rescue Teams. The companies are supported by an in-depth mutual aid system from surrounding communities and agencies.
Emergency Services-Medical Emergency medical services (EMS) are provided 24 hours a day by highly trained Firefighter Paramedics and Firefighter Emergency Medical Technicians. Each Firefighter is trained in advanced first aid and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Firefighter Paramedics provide advanced medical treatments including the intravenous administration of medications, cardiac defibrillation and monitoring, and respiratory therapies. The Culver City Fire Department responds to approximately 3000 EMS calls each year.
