The usual function of the police K-9 is to assist police officers in the performance of their wide range of duties. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Locating, detaining, or apprehending suspect(s) whom are resisting or evading arrest.
- Locating evidence that is believed to be of value in the investigation of a crime or incident believed to be a crime.
- Searching an area, building or any type of structure or vehicle where it is believed that a crime may have been committed.

Booking, processing, and housing of prisoners and court commitments. Information on prisoners in custody can be obtained at this number.

TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT (310) 253-6250
Enforce traffic and vehicle codes in an effort to decrease congestion and accidents. The unit works to expedite traffic that's in our city.
PARKING ENFORCEMENT (310) 253-6250
Enforce parking codes to enable access and availability.
COMMERCIAL ENFORCEMENT (310) 253-6250
Enforce various codes that apply to trucks and other large vehicles thus reducing damage to city streets and accidents that result from safety violations.
SPECIAL EVENTS COORDINATOR (310) 253-6250
Coordinate police response at various events such as the Western Hemisphere Marathon and the Fourth of July show.
LIVESCAN (310) 253-6110
Provides fingerprinting services for the public, for a set fee, who may need registration certification.
