A portion of the sidewalk on my street is need of repair. How long will it take for the City to come out and repair? If the sidewalk is damaged in such a way that it is causing a trip hazard, Public Works crews will make a priority to repair the damaged portion. If no immediate hazard exists, the portion of the sidewalk in question will be placed on a waiting list for future repair.
Who do I call to follow up on requests that have not been addressed? You may contact the Street & Tree Maintenance Supervisor at (310) 253-6440
When is it OK for me to repair my own sidewalk?Residents should never repair their own sidewalk without having the City assess it first. Residents may repair the damaged sidewalk themselves, or hire a licensed contractor to perform the work. Proper permits will need to be obtained from the City and the completed work is subject to inspection by the City.
I saw my neighbor’s driveway being repaired by City crews. What must I do to get the same repairs?City crews will make priority repairs to damaged driveways that pose trip hazards. Otherwise, the damaged driveway will be placed on a waiting list for future repair. Property owners may repair the damaged driveways themselves, as long as, the proper permits are obtained from the City.
When will my street be resurfaced? All City streets are rated on their present pavement condition. The Pavement Management Master Plan prioritizes each street based on the pavement conditions, the available budget, type of use, and the amount of daily traffic flow. Typically, main streets and secondary collectors receive a higher priority for pavement resurfacing than residential streets.
If I report a pothole that needs to be filled, how long will it take City crews to fill it?Depending on the daily work load for Public Works crews, potholes will typically be filled within 48 to 72 hours after reporting them.
