Lost & Found Dogs / Cats

I Lost a Pet
In losing a pet, it is important to stay focused and organized about what steps you need to take to recover your lost animal. Here are some suggestions to help you if your pet is lost:
  • Effective January 5, 2009, the City of Culver City contracted with spcaLA for sheltering services. Contact the spcaLA at 310-676-1149 or visit to spcaLA shelter (see below for address).
  • View the lost pets at the six Los Angeles County Animal Care Centers.
  • Visit animal shelters in the area and ask to see all of the found animals, including found animals that are being held in the hospital or observation wards. Put a description of your pet, your name, your phone number, where the pet was lost and when, etc. on the “Lost and Found” boards. Add a photograph of your pet if possible.
  • Search your neighborhood, leaving the description of your pet and your name and phone number with as many people as possible.
  • Advertise in local newspapers and be sure to read the "Found" ads.
If you are fortunate enough to find your lost pet, be sure to attach a license and identification tag to his/her collar. Also, consider a microchip for your pet (microchips are mandatory for dogs residing in Culver City).
