Request for Service
(310) 523-9566 Currently, the
Carson Shelter is responsible for responding to request for services from Culver City residents who are reporting or needing help with stray, injured, lost, dead, nuisance, or dangerous animals.
City's In-House Animal Services Officer
The City Council has approved a two-year pilot program for an in-house Animal Services Officer. The hiring process for this new position is near completion. Upon hiring of the City’s Officer, the City will take-over primary response services with the County continuing to provide field services during off-hours. Contact information for the City’s Animal Services Officer will be provided upon hiring of the Officer.
Reporting a Noisy Animal
It is against the law for owners to allow their dog(s) to bark incessantly. They may be guilty of allowing a public nuisance, which maybe considered a misdemeanor with a fine of up to $1000 and/or six months in jail. (California Penal Code 373A and L.A. County Code Sec. 10.40.065.)
To report the animal, please call the Carson Shelter at (310) 523-9566 or submit an
Animal Noise Complaint Form. Make sure you have the dog owner's address. The owner will be notified by the Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control by mail that there is an official complaint and they are mandated by law to correct the problem. Your name will remain anonymous unless it becomes necessary to bring the owner to an administrative hearing due to a lack of resolution. Upon hiring of the City’s Animal Services Officer, that Officer will also have enforcement authority.
Reporting an Animal Bite
All persons bitten, parents and/or guardians of minor children bitten, as well as any person owning or having custody or control of a dog (or other animal of a species subject to rabies) that bites a person, must promptly report the incident to the
Carson Shelter. Upon hiring of the City’s Animal Services Officer, that Officer will also have enforcement authority.
Dead Animal Pick-up The charge to pick-up a dead animal for an owner $10. There is no charge for a stray-dead animal.
Turning a stray animal
