Big Brothers Big Sisters / School-Based Program


About this volunteer opportunity:

Meet with a child from 3rd through 5th grade (ages 7 to 10) during their school lunch time (between 12-1:30 p.m.).  Volunteers have a choice of Tuesday, Thursday or Friday for their service.

Through their school-based program, vlounteers offer children and youth individualized time and attention on a consistent basis, withe the venue being the child's school rather than the community. Teachers identify those children who can most benefit from an extra caring adult in their lives. Volunteers and children meet regularly during the school year - typically each week, utilizing the resources avaliable within the school: computer labs, the library, the gym, a classroom, or the schoolyard.


Requirements:

Skills: Applicants must be 18 years old and willing to make a one-year commitment. There is a background check and a current TB test is required. After the application is received by BBBS an hour-long interview will be held in Culver City
