Culver City Symphony Orchestra Celebrates The Wild West

Culver City Symphony

Music Director Clyde Mitchell welcomes us to a celebration of America’s Wild West, featuring music from favorite Westerns, and Western-inspired music from favorite composers.

We start with movie themes, and a Hoe Down by our founder, George Berres. We then change the pace to honor the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II with Glenn Miller and a medley of World War II hits before coming back to the West for big orchestral pieces by Williams and Copland. We end with the Grand Canyon Suite by Ferde Grofé, best known as the orchestrator of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.
