Culver City Joins the Los Angeles Community Choice Energy Authority
During their meeting of November 13, 2017, the City Council decided to join the Los Angeles Community Choice Energy Authority (LACCE). LACCE is a Community Choice Aggregation organization that will purchase electricity on behalf of its member cities for sale to their constituents. LACCE intends to purchase cleaner, more renewable electricity and offer it to their customers at a cost that is less than Southern California Edison (SCE). LACCE will also develop energy programs to reduce the effects of climate change such as providing incentives and rebates for rooftop solar installations and energy efficiency projects and offer reduced charging rates for electric vehicles. LACCE intends to commence offering service citywide in January 2019. Once established, SCE will continue to maintain the electrical distribution system, meter use and invoice customers on behalf of LACCE.
