 Ince lights

The Ince Parking Structure, located at 9099 Washington Blvd., completed an energy efficiency project that included replacing nearly 700 incandescent and fluorescent lighting fixtures with Light Emitting Diodes (LED) that use 50% less electricity.  Unlike fluorescent fixtures, the LED fixtures do not require light bulb replacements and are equipped with features such as daylight harvesting, dimming and occupancy sensors.  When natural light from the sun is sufficient to meet the illumination needs of a particular area, the daylight harvesting feature automatically dims or shuts them off.   In addition, the City will reduce its maintenance costs as a result of no longer having to purchase and replace burned out bulbs.

The project will save nearly 192,000 kWh of electricity annually and $318,000 over its 12-year life.  The project was one of many that contributed toward the City’s attainment of a Platinum Level Beacon Award for Energy Efficiency from the Institute for Local Government.
