City Hall & City Services Holiday Closures

The City is limited to posting locally-held events for Culver City community and non-profit organizations.  Your request will be reviewed by the appropriate person, and upon approval, it will be posted on the City's Community Calendar.

Exhibition Opening

Opening Reception for new exhibitions "Crumbling Empire: The Power of Dissident Voices," featuring works b Shepard Fairey, Komar & Melamid, and Soviet artists of the 1980s and '90s, drawn from the Wende's Tom and Jeri Ferris Russian Collection and the Ron Miriello Soviet Poster Show Collection / AIGA San Diego and "Upside-Down Propaganda: The Art of North korean Defector Sun Mu," the first U.S. museum exhibition of the North Korean dissident artist Sun Mu.

Also opening Sunday is a new installation in the East German Guard House, "Red Alert! Air Raid Sirens of Los Angeles," Environmental portraits revealing the diversity of air-raid sirens in the L.A. landscape by artist Nicole Weingart.

11 a.m. - 5 p.m.: Exhibition Viewing
11 a.m.: Children's Tour
2 p.m.: Opening Reception with refreshments in the colonnade
3 p.m.: "Crumbling Empire: The Power of Dissident Voices" opening remarks by Joes Segal, Chief Curator and Director of Programming
3:15 p.m.: Interview with artist Sun Mu by Hannah Song of Liberty in North Korea (LiNK)
3:30 p.m.: Conversation with Blaine Vess and Fiona Chalom on "Upside-Down Propaganda: The Art of North Korean Defector Sun Mu," moderated by Joes Segal
