Off to DC for health and equity training!
The City of Culver City is one of three agencies in the nation picked by the American Planning Association (APA) to receive free assistance to incorporate health and equity into the General Plan Update. The other two communities are Fort Collins, CO and Pinellas County, FL.
APA is working on this project with the Health Impact Project (HIP), a collaboration of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and The Pew Charitable Trusts. The goal is for APA to help planners increase their capacity to address health and equity in long-range planning by changing the traditional way of developing general plans. Another aim of the project is that lessons learned could be used to replicate the process in other similar jurisdictions.
Ashley Hefner, Culver City’s Advance Planning Manager, will be attending the program training September 23, 2018 in Washington, DC in conjunction with APA’s Policy and Advocacy Conference. Stay tuned for more information to come!
