Special Sketchbooks for Third-graders
In Honor of National Arts in Education Week
Culver City Unified School District Third-graders were treated to a red spiral-bound sketchbook featuring line drawings of two significant downtown public artworks: Doug Freeman's The Lion's Fountain, and Ed Carpenter's Hanging Garden. The school kids were thrilled to receive them and began coloring-in and drawing immediately, while chatting about what public art meant to them and describing what type of artist they wanted to be when they grew up! The Cultural Affairs Division of the City were keen to encourage awareness of arts in our environment and to spark interest in exploring the variety of artists' creations in our city.
