Culver City's State of the City Address – A Huge Success!
On April 9, 2019, Culver City Mayor Thomas Aujero Small gave his State of the City Address to over 600 members of the community at the Robert Frost Auditorium in Culver City.
"While we enjoy tremendous growth in Culver City, we must address the challenges we face as well. In our quest to be the ideal place to live, do business, visit and attend school, we must renew our commitment to achieving balance by working together," said Mayor Small. "The City Council and City staff are committed to collaborating with our residents through the General Plan process. The inclusion of all community members will ensure that Culver City remains a 'city for all' for generations to come."
The State of the City event also included performances by internationally-acclaimed American Pianist Althea Waites, who performed Duke Ellington's The Single Petal of a Rose and The Angel City Chorale, who sang Woody Guthrie's This Land is Your Land. As a part of the festivities, Diana and David Hauptman were named as Culver City's "Citizens of the Year" for their outstanding contributions to the Culver City community. Joanna Brody, the First Lady of Culver City, presented the award and paid tribute to the Hauptmans, and they were greeted with a standing ovation.
A highlight of this year's State of the City event was the premiere of a short film produced by Eat, Sleep, Edit, called Culver City: Forward Motion. View the film on Culver City's website.
The City extends gratitude to members of Culver City's community, who participated in this year's State of the City event, which was co-produced by the Culver City Unified School District, Culver City Chamber of Commerce and City of Culver City.
