Addressing Homelessness in Culver City
On any given night in Culver City, an estimated 227 people experience homelessness, nearly double the number from 2016.
To put a halt to homelessness in Culver City, the Housing Division of the Community Development Department has collaborated with the Committee on Homelessness on a number of initiatives. In 2018 alone, the two created an updated Homelessness Resource Guide, Toolkit for Addressing Homelessness, and Plan to Prevent and Combat Homelessness.

Homeless Count 2019
The 2019 Homelessness Count took place on Wednesday, January 23. It was an enumeration (counting) of the number of people experiencing homelessness in Culver City. All cities on the Westside of Los Angeles County conducted the Count the same night to avoid duplication of individuals counted in neighboring cities. Based on the data collected, the County of Los Angeles, State of California, and federal government will determine resource allocation to Culver City for housing and homelessness assistance programs.
Members of the Committee on Homelessness also collected new and unused, packaged donations, such as diapers, toiletries, blankets, sheet sets, and socks. These donations were given to Upward Bound House family shelter in Culver City and other local organizations that have direct contact with families and individuals who are homeless.
Thank you to everyone who came to participate in this year’s Homeless Count and to the community for all of their support in helping Culver City address homelessness.
