Umbrella

Umbrella

Umbrella serves as a visual continuation of a building and its roof line. The structure is also intended as a balcony from which the entire surrounding complex can be viewed. The name is derived from the structure's semblance to an open umbrella that has been turned upside down. Umbrella received the Los Angeles Business Council Design Award in 2000 and the AIA/LA Design Honor Award in 1999.

Eric Owen Moss is a Culver City based architect known for his conceptually challenging designs. Several of Mr. Mosses' buildings (or portions thereof), are designated under Culver City's Architecture as Art program. These include: Beehive (1998), Untitled (3535 Hayden Avenue) (1997), and What Wall (1998).
