Bulky Item Collection

Bulky waste pick up is by appointment only.

Single Family Residents

Single-family residents receive two free bulky item pick ups per year (up to 6 items).

Multi Family Residents 

Multi-family residents receives one free pick up per year (up to 6 items).

Commercial Customers

There is a fee for commercial customers. Currently (FY 21/22), pick up is $59.67 (for up to 6 items).

All Customers 

There is a fee of $29.84 per additional item or $59.67, if residents go above their allowable annual pick up.

Step 1.Scheduling a pickup:

You can either fill out the online form or call customer service at (310) 253-6400 from 7am to 3pm, Monday through Friday. A customer service representative will schedule an appointment for you within two (2) business days of your call. Collection will normally be scheduled on the following week of your trash collection day, but an appointment is required.   

Step 2.Set Out Instructions:

  • Place materials at the curb by 6 am and no earlier than 1-day before your scheduled pickup date 
  • Material must be bundled. For example, if there are loose items such as branches, pieces or wood or metal rods, material shall be roped or taped together 
  • Place in front of your property line on same side of street
  • Keep pile clear of other objects, including cars
  • Do not block sidewalk or street
  • Loose, uncontained or otherwise improperly prepared items will not be collected

When completing and submitting the online form, you should receive an email response within 72 hours with the next available appointment date. 

Important! Please check your spam folder if you do not see the scheduling confirmation email in your email inbox or contact Customer Service at (310) 235-6400, Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:00 pm, to confirm.

Acceptable Materials

Acceptable Materials

The following must be placed placed at the curb:

  • Furniture/mattresses
  • Appliances (will all fluids removed)
  • Gasoline lawnmowers (with all fluids removed)

The following shall not exceed 4 inches in diameter and 5 feet in length (and must be bundled):

  • Pipes
  • Lumber
  • Lawn/tree/shrub trimmings

Unacceptable Materials

  • Commercial waste
  • Dirt, rocks, and bricks
  • Glass panes
  • Concrete
  • Household garbage
  • Hot ashes
  • Heavy materials (auto bodies, engines, etc.)

Residents may drop off batteries at the local household hazardous waste facilities. Local home improvement stores or grocery stores may accept household batteries. Other materials that may be dropped off at the HHW facility include:

  • Batteries (vehicle, household, etc.)
  • Hazardous waste (paint, oil, chemicals, etc.) 
  • Fluorescent tubes
  • E-waste
