CULVER CITY INTERIM BUILDING SAFETY OPERATIONS DUE TO COVID-19

UPDATED: March 24 2020

In-Person Services Ceased at Culver City Hall

In coordination with the City and County of Los Angeles, the City Manager of the City of Culver City issued a supplemental Public Order today calling on residents of the City of Culver City to stay in their residences and limit all activities outside of their homes beyond what is absolutely necessary for essential tasks.  On those occasions when residents are out of their home for necessary tasks, they should stay at least six feet away from others. The purpose of the order is to slow the spread of COVID-19.  Once the order takes effect it will be in place until April 19, 2020 and is subject to extension. The Building Safety Division is open for business via telephone, email, or online.  Please contact 310-253-5800 for information on how to obtain services via telephone, email, or online. The City is currently evaluating how it can continue to provide in-person services at City Hall while also encouraging social distancing to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Interim Building Safety Procedures are as follows:

Inspections

Services ARE operational, expect delays.  Contact Building Safety at 310-253-5800 or email building.safety@culvercity.org to schedule your inspection.  Please provide permit number, address, type of inspection, date of desired inspection and contact name and number.  Some inspections may be conducted virtually via FaceTime or Skype.  Practice social distancing during the inspection.  If you are not feeling well, please reschedule the inspection.

ATTENTION Construction Business/Construction Site Manager:

On Saturday, March 21, 2020, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (Public Health) issued a revised "Safer at Home Order" for Control of COVID-19. The Order includes new social distancing requirements for "essential businesses". Because your business is considered an "essential business", construction activity and necessary functions may continue only with the following additional infection control precautions:

1. Practice social distancing by requiring employees and visitors to be separated by six (6) feet, to the extent feasible;

2. Provide access to hand washing facilities with soap and water or hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol; and

3. Post a sign in a conspicuous place at all public entries that instructions members of the public to not enter if they are experiencing symptoms of respiratory illness, including fever or cough.

4. Adhere to communicable disease control recommendations provided by the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health.

The County Health Officer will continue to monitor the rate of COVID-19 disease spread, recommendations from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the effect of the Order. If needed, the Public Health Officer may extend, expand, or otherwise modify the Order to further protect the public’s health.

Because guidance may change, you must daily consult the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health’s website to identify any modifications to the Order. You are required to comply with any updates until the Order is terminated.

Thank you for your time and cooperation.
