Summer Heat Wave Safety Tips
During periods of extreme heat conditions, extra precaution should be taken to ensure the safety of older adults, infants and children, as well individuals who participate in outdoor activities or those who are sensitive to the heat. High temperatures mean an increased risk of heat exhaustion, heat cramps or sunstroke.
Zika Virus Information from L.A. County Department of Public Health
Zika is a disease caused by a virus (germ) that spreads to people mostly by mosquito bites. Infected men can also spread Zika to their sexual partners. It causes illness mainly in people living in areas of Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Mexico. In January 2016, Zika was found for the first time in the United States in someone who traveled to Central America.
