Carnival ride at Fiesta La Ballona

The City of Culver City sponsors and hosts community annual and special events throughout the year. Below is a brief description of events happening through Summer 2023. For more information on a specific event please visit the Community Calendar.

January

Martin Luther King, Jr Celebration

Martin Luther King, Jr. MLK Day In January, the Culver City community gathers to honor and celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Culver City is inspired by the work of Dr. King, who committed his life to the pursuit of equality and justice for all, and by his dedication to use peaceful means to teach social justice.

February

Culver City Arts Foundation - Culver City Book Festival

More than 20 small book presses attend, exhibit, and sell.  The festival features a number of literary workshops and readings and provides a platform for lesser-known writers to showcase their work. 

March

Screenland 5k

The center of the event is a 5K run/walk, on the same day as the Academy Awards, with the course running through “The Heart of Screenland”.  Includes an awards ceremony,  “Munchkin Dash” (ages 12 & under), an expo area with various food and gear vendors, and stages with live entertainment.

April

Spring Egg Hunt

Carnival rides at Fiesta La BallonaIn partnership with the Culver City Kiwanis Club, the annual event is held the third Saturday in March at Veterans Park, 4117 Overland Ave on the main field. The hunt is for ages walking to 10 years old. In addition to the egg hunt, there will be fun family activities, including arts & crafts, games and a photo booth with Mr. Bunny. Don't forget your baskets.

George Barris Culver City Car Show

A car on display at the George Barris Culver City Car Show In May, George Barris, car customizer extraordinaire, creator of many great vehicles from the Movies & TV, displays some of his great creations alongside great classic cars & hot rods from all across California!  Learn more about the George Barris Culver City car show.

Culver City Education Foundation - A Taste of Culver City 

Fundraising event CCUSE programs and resources, will also promote Culver City businesses.  Includes tasting booths from 20 -30 local restaurants, beer & wine garden, student performances, and other interactive activities.

 

June

Taste of the Nation

Food samples at Taste of the Nation Taste of the Nation® for No Kid Hungry is the nation's premier culinary benefit, featuring top chefs and mixologists -- all of whom are coming together to donate their time, talent and passion to end childhood hunger in America.   

The 2023 fundraising event will feature culinary tastings from more than 35 local restaurants as well as curated drinks, cocktails, a kid’s area, and live musical entertainment on a stage.

Annual Culver City Garden Club Show & Plant Sale

The 70th Annual Garden Club Show and Plnt Sale will feature horticultural and urban garden competitions, plant and flower exhibitions, vendors, plant sales, raffle prizes—plus educational workshops, presentations, demos, and a Master Gardener panel.  Partially a fundraiser, but the primary purpose is to educate, stimulate interest in gardening and provide an outlet for creative expression.  

 

August

Fiesta La Ballona

Carnival rides at Fiesta La BallonaIn August, the Fiesta La Ballona, "Festival of the People", is a weekend festival celebrating Culver City in Veteran's Park with food, entertainment and amusement rides. 

 

September

Ballona Creek Cleanup

Participants and their finds at the Ballona Creek Cleanup Each September, Culver City Public Works Environmental Programs and Operations and local community support participate in the Annual Coastal Cleanup Day on the Ballona Creek bike path.

October Abilities Carnival

Abilities carnival participants The carnival will feature barbecue, carnival game booths, arts and crafts, karaoke, live entertainment, a photo booth, community resource tables, and a quiet activity room. All activities have been specially designed to be accessible to people of all ages and abilities. Free hot dogs, burgers, pizza, cotton candy, and popcorn will be served.  

Culver City Arts District Art Walk and Roll Festival

The festival features local artists, vendors, live music, food trucks, beer gardens, and kid’s activities. PA060203+copy.jpg Attendees encouraged to visit established art galleries with special installations and a pop-up marketplace featuring arts and crafts vendors.  

 

Culver City Arts Foundation Tito's Fiesta Mexicana

Fundraising event celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in support of the Culver City Cultural Arts Foundation andTito's Festival Mexicana serving Tito’s Vodka cocktails and Tito’s Tacos food.  Stage performances will include Mariachi and Folklorico entertainers.

The Asian World Film Festival (AWFF) brings the best of a broad selection of Asian World cinema to Los Angeles in order to draw greater recognition to the region's wealth of filmmakers, strengthening ties between the Asian and Hollywood film industries.  

Jazz Hands for Autism Concert 

Concert featuring individuals on the autism spectrum.  These performers will express their creative musical abilities, in a safe space, where they develop on-stage confidence, make friends, and share their talents with family and community.

The Culver City Film Festival brings together a diverse group of film makers to share recent work and recognize local talent in a city celebrated for it's cinematic history and cultural depth.  

Downtown Culver City Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration

Celebrate peace, good will and the holiday season at this annual event. See Santa Claus as he makes a very special visit, all the way from the North Pole! Downtown Culver City businesses provide the hot cider, hot cocoa, cookies and other festive treats that are sure to make everyone feel merry. Enjoy performances by local choirs, as well as appearances by the Mayor and city council members.
