Filming at Parks, Recreation & Community Services Parks and Facilities

On behalf of the City of Culver City, we thank you for providing us this opportunity to allow you to film at Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department (PRCS) facilities. 

City Deadlines for Film Permits

  • You must submit a Culver City Film Permit Application at least one week before filming.  
  • We ask that you please allow 72 hours for PRCS staff to review. 
  • Film requests are not reviewed on weekends nor on City Holidays. 

Activities that Require a Film Permit

  • Commercial Motion Picture
  • Television Program
  • Advertisement
  • Music Video
  • Public Service Announcement
  • Some Commercial Web-based Productions
  • Any Similar Production Outside of an Approved Studio
  • Student Films
  • Commercial Still Photography
  • News Features

Filming activity also includes the setup and dismantling of all equipment and the use of any parking lot at any park for base camp, catering, etc. Permit exemptions are only for organizations and personnel with media credentials covering real-time breaking news. News features covering non-breaking news require film permits.

Application Process

Step 1.Application 

Please fill out the film and/or photography PRCS Department Permit Request.

 

Step 2.Walk-through and Site Visit

City Staff will contact you about scheduling a walk through of your selected film and/or photo shoot site(s). 

Step 3.Insurance

Once the site(s) has been approved,  submit a certificate of insurance naming the City as additionally insured.  

Step 4.Film LA

The film permit request process also includes submitting an application to Film LA, Culver City's contracted film coordinator for City-wide location shooting. This application is in addition to the Culver City Permit Request.
