Change in General Municipal Election Dates
Senate Bill No. 415 (SB 415), the California Voter Participation Rights Act (California Elections Code Sections 14050-14057), was approved by Governor Brown in 2015. SB 415 requires all local governments, including the City of Culver City to consolidate its General Municipal Election with a statewide election date, if holding the General Municipal Election on another date has previously resulted in a significant decrease in voter turnout. To comply with SB 415, the People of the City of Culver City approved and adopted Measure D to bring Culver City in compliance. This posting serves as an official notification to the registered voters of the City of Culver City of a change in the following election dates:
The General Municipal Election previously scheduled for April 14, 2020,
will be held on NOVEMBER 3, 2020.
The General Municipal Election previously scheduled for April 12, 2022,
will be held on NOVEMBER 8, 2022.
The 4-year terms of City office holders elected in April 2016 and 2018, whose terms of office would have expired after the elections in April of 2020 and 2022, have been extended until the respective November election results are certified and declared by Los Angeles County and the City Council of the City of Culver City.
