Adult Exercise

We are happy to announce that as the numbers of COVID-19 cases have dropped the Los Angeles County Public Health Department has issued orders that will allow us to resume our Adult Exercise and AquaFit courses! Adult Exercise courses will resume on March 8 and the AquaFit courses will resume when we reopen after our Annual Spring Maintenance closure on April 5. All COVID-19 guidelines listed below will apply.

Please Note: The Plunge will be closed from March 22 through April 4 for our annual Spring Maintenance. 

Course Hours and Times

Adult Exercise - Will Resume March 8

Low-impact water exercise in shallow water; ideal for all fitness levels, including non-swimmers, and anyone recovering from injuries. The class will be offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00-9:45am.  Participation is limited so students must pre-register.

AquaFit Shallow Water - Will Resume April 5

AquaFit Shallow Water Aerobics is great for all fitness levels including the non-swimmer.  This low impact class is a way to tone your body, improve your cardiovascular endurance, and lose a few inches around your waist. It’s a safe exercise for pre and post natal women, and those who are recovering from minor injuries. Pre Registration REQUIRED.

AquaFit Deep Water - Will Resume April 5

If you are an above average exerciser, AquaFit DEEP WATER AEROBICS is the perfect workout for you.  Buoyancy belts are provided for each client.  They give you support while moving freely in the water. Hand buoys, and noodles are some of the equipment items used to create a well balanced body exercise. Pre Registration REQUIRED.

AquaFit Stand Up - Will Resume April 5

AQUAFit STAND UP is the best total body workout on an inflatable stand up paddle board.  These fun and safe exercises are designed to improve balance, stabilize the core muscle groups, and increase cardiovascular endurance. The bonus, it’s possible to burn up to 650 calories in the 45 minute workout. Pre Registration REQUIRED.

Cancellations

Please be mindful of your fellow program participants and ensure that if you can not make your class that you call either (310) 253-6650 or (310) 253-6680 to cancel your reservation by 6:00pm the evening preceding your class. This way staff can open up the space on line for other participants to register on a first come first served basis.

Standby Procedures

The City of Culver City is implementing a Standby Registration process at the Plunge in response to the overwhelming number of "No Shows" for reserved exercise spaces.  The City’s Standby Registration process will be on a first come first served basis.  We ask that you please carefully review the City’s guidelines below:

  • Standby registration will open up 15 minutes to the hour for each exercise period to both resident and non resident participants.
  • Standby Participants must check in with City staff at the standby canopy located on the grass area west of the benches on the Adult Exercise or AquaFit list.
  • Standby Participants will complete the Daily Infection Control Check off sheet and leave their cell phone number for City staff to contact them if a space is available.
  • Once the Standby Registration process is completed, the City asks that Standby Participants not congregate in the area.
  • At 10 minutes past the hour if a space is available, City staff will call Standby Participants in the order they appear on the list for that time period.
  • Standby Participants that accept the space will be registered by City staff for the Adult Exercise/AquaFit course.
  • Standby Participants must then log into their ActiveNet account via phone or tablet and pay the balance.
  • Once the transaction is completed, Standby Participants must show their ActiveNet receipt to City staff at the standby canopy 
  • Upon visual confirmation of the receipt, City Staff will allow the Standby Participants to enter the City facility
  • Course fees will not be prorated
  • The City strongly recommends that you store your credit card information in your ActiveNet account to speed up the Standby Registration process. (Deleting the stored credit card afterwards is highly recommended)

 

COVID-19 Procedures and Protocols 

COVID-19 Check in and Class Staging

  • Check in will begin outside the plunge at 15 minutes to the hour.
  • Participants will line up along either the North or South side of the building along the outside of the men's and women’s locker room in the designated spaces marked on the pavement.
  • Staff will scan the participants temperature, record it, and fill out the Daily COVID-19 symptom check form. (One form must be filled out per participant.) 
  • The front doors will lock 15 minutes after the hour. Participants will not be admitted once the doors are locked.
  • Participants will walk straight out to the deck through the lobby doors to their assigned class section.
  • Restrooms are cleaned and disinfected at the end of each session. Please wash your hands before and after use.
  • All participants must shower at the newly installed outdoor showers before entering the pool.
  • There will be a 5-minute warning (3 short whistle blasts) 5 minutes prior to the end of the class.
  • Participants must leave immediately through the south west gate at the conclusion of their class
  • Locker room changing areas and indoor showers will not be available for showering or changing. 

Adult Exercise and AquaFit COVID-19 Course Guidelines

For the safety of all participants and to ensure the maximum enjoyment, fulfillment and participation levels for all involved the following guidelines will be enforced.

  • There is no outside equipment allowed in the class without prior instructor approval.
  • All participants are to follow the coached workout. If accommodations are needed, please consult with instructor prior to class to discuss the best possible way if possible to achieve them.
  • Talking is to be kept at a minimum. 
  • Only preregistered participants are permitted to enter the facility.
  • Spectators, guests or visitors are not permitted.  
  • Social Distancing of six (6) feet is required throughout the facility.
  • Face coverings must be worn at all times in the building and on deck.
  • Indoor showers, lockers, locker rooms and changing areas are not available for use. It is strongly recommended that participants come dressed and ready to exercise and that they shower and change at home after the class. 
  • All belongings must be left in/on the crate in front of the assigned lane/space.
  • Kick boards, noodles, and pull buoys are not available for use.
  • Sharing equipment is not permitted.
  • Lap Swim/Adult Exercise/Swim Lessons: limited to 1 participant per lane/space/quadrant.
  • Family Swim: limited to 4 participants from the same household with a 1 to 1 -adult to child ratio for each child under 48 inches tall. 
  • Participants must stay in the center of their lane/quadrant at all times.
  • Items left in the facility after a swim/exercise/lesson session will be disposed of immediately following the session.
  • Water fountains are available for filling water bottles only.
  • Restrooms and sinks are disinfected between each exercise session only. Wash your hands thoroughly after use.

Should a participant not abide by the above, the instructor and the City of Culver City reserves the right to ask the participant to leave the class.

Plunge COVID-19 Precautions

  • Daily Screening for all staff and patrons entering the facility
  • Face covering guidelines will be strictly enforced
  • Social distancing of six (6) feet will be strictly enforced
  • All patrons enter the facility through the sanitation/symptoms check station at the main entrance off of Veteran’s park.
  • All patrons will exit the facility through the south west gate
  • Frequent hand washing when not in the pool is encouraged
  • All lesson Equipment will be disinfected/sanitized at the conclusion of each lesson in accordance with CDC and LA County Disinfection guidelines.
  • Between each lap swim/program block there is a 10/15 minute disinfection period where all high touch surfaces will be disinfected prior to the next group entering.
