The Culver City Plunge will be closed for its annual maintenance starting December 15, 2024 until January 4, 2025.

Facility Information

Plunge Amenities

The 40,000 square-foot facility includes a 50-meter x 25-yard Olympic size competition pool. Our heated competition pool may be set up as an eight-lane long course or a 19-lane short course venue. The facility also has a 25-yard by 52-foot diving well with one-meter and three-meter springboards. The Plunge is fully equipped to accommodate guests with special needs. The City’s goal is always to make the Plunge as safe as possible and provide a welcoming environment for the hundreds of patrons we serve each day.

Accessibility

It is strongly recommended that those utilizing the plunge come dressed and ready to swim and shower and change at home after their swim. Outdoor showers will be available to rinse off prior to swimming per LA County Guidelines. The men's, women's, and family rooms are fully accessible to all patrons. For access to the pool, we offer employee guided pool lift assistance. The Plunge has (3) three ADA access points to the pool as well as automatic doors throughout the facility. We also have ADA showers and changing stalls. Our goal is to make the Plunge fun, safe and accessible to all patrons.  

Bike Rack and Drinking Fountain

For your convenience, the we have (2) two large bike racks placed in-front of the Plunge entrance. Bring your own lock, and please note that there is no overnight bike storage. There is also a cold water fountain located on the pool deck to keep you well hydrated before, during and after your workout.  

Lockers and Showers

It is strongly recommended that those utilizing the plunge come dressed and ready to swim and shower and change at home after their swim. Outdoor showers will be available to rinse off prior to swimming per LA County Guidelines. Store your valuables in one of the lockers located in the men's and women's locker rooms. Bring your own lock, and please note that there is no overnight storage in the lockers or facility. We also have warm showers for those that will need to look their best after a workout.

Diving Boards

Enjoy the diving boards from a one-meter height, or for the more daring diver, a three-meter height. Spring off the board, fly through the air, and sail into the water with a splash. Train for the Olympics or see who can make the biggest splash. The diving boards are fun for swimmers of all abilities! Please note that everyone under the age of 18 is required to take a swim test, which is administered poolside by a City lifeguard.

Swimsuit Spin Dryers

A swimsuit water extractor is available at the Plunge. For your convenience our swimsuit extractor will spin dry the water out of your swimsuit before it goes back in the bag.

Rental Procedure

  1. Fill out a Pool Rental Reservation Form(PDF, 120KB).
  2. Send your request by email. 
  3. Once approved a permit will be finalized.
  4. A certificate of insurance will be required from Non-Profit and Commercial Organizations.

The guidelines and procedures pertain to permitting the City of Culver City Plunge Swim Complex, located at 4175 Overland Avenue. The facility is a 25 yard by 50 meter swimming pool which offers a variety of swim and exercise programs for residents of Culver City and the surrounding communities and is managed by the Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department. The facility can be divided into three usable spaces and/or can accommodate up to 19 short course swim lanes or up to 8 long course swim lanes.

It is the goal of the Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department guidelines to provide all Culver City residents, regardless of program participation, an opportunity to access this facility in an objective manner. 

Permits and Certificates Needed

Insurance Requirements

Insurance requirement for Non-Profit, Commercial Renters and/or a rental that is open to the public. A $2,000,000 liability policy is required for each rental. The City of Culver City, members of its City Council, its boards and commissions, officers, agents, and employees will be named as an additional insured in an endorsement to the policy. 

Permits and Certificates

The renter, at its sole expense, shall obtain and maintain during the term of this rental, all appropriate permits, licenses, and certificates that may be required in connection with the performance of services under this rental permit including, but not limited to, (1) a Culver City business tax certificate, (2) other required permits. A Private Party rental that is not open to the general public does NOT require a certificate of insurance.
