The most urgent volunteer roles that need support:

  • Transportation Specialists: There is a high need for volunteer transportation specialists who support hospital patients by delivering blood from our facilities to local hospitals. If you have a little free time, love driving, and enjoy meeting new people, the Red Cross has a great volunteer spot waiting for you.
  • Disaster Action Team Member: Everyday people are forced from their home due to fires, storms or other disasters. Our Disaster Action Team volunteers respond day and night to meet the immediate needs of their neighbors. Support may include financial assistance for food, clothing and lodging, emotional support, replacing prescription medications and other critically needed items.
  • Blood Drive Assistant: As the face of Red Cross blood drives, you'll welcome and check-in donors, ensure they read pre-donation materials, offer promotional items when available, and ensure that everyone has a positive experience in a clean environment. You will assist in ensuring that our donors know we are taking every precaution to ensure their safety and that their donation is making a difference.
  • Shelter Service Associate: The Shelter (SH) Service Associate (SA) is a temporary position assigned to work in person in a Red Cross shelter before, during and/or after a disaster event such as a wildfire or earthquake. Shelter Service Associates complete tasks necessary for shelter operations and interact with clients to ensure their needs are met. Vaccinated high recommended; or wear appropriate mask at all times.
  • Disaster Health Associate - Licensed Medical Professional: Disaster Health Services volunteers provide medical care and consultations for people staying at a Red Cross shelter who may have endured hardship and injury during an evacuation. The position requires a current, unencumbered medical license. It is a part-time position assigned to work in-person before, during and/or after a disaster event such as a wildfire or earthquake. Vaccinated high recommended; or wear appropriate mask at all times.
