The City of Culver City is proud to support the return of the Downtown Culver City Independence Celebration, presented by the Culver City Downtown Business Association, on Saturday, July 5, 2025, from 6 PM to 9:30 PM at Town Plaza. This free, family-friendly community event invites residents and visitors alike to gather in the heart of downtown for an evening of live entertainment, patriotic tributes, and a dazzling aerial drone light show.

Now in its second year, the event continues a new and sustainable tradition for Culver City, replacing the former fireworks display with a safe and environmentally friendly drone show. Supported by the City of Culver City, this celebration offers a modern take on honoring our nation’s independence while highlighting the community’s creative spirit and commitment to innovation.

Live Entertainment and Patriotic Ceremony

Evening festivities will kick off with a high-energy performance by Guilty Pleasure Makers, followed by a flag salute conducted by local Scouts and a moving rendition of the National Anthem by rising talent Cadence Washington.

Aerial Drone Light Show Returns

The night will culminate in a spectacular aerial drone light show produced by Sky Elements, the country’s leading drone light show company. Known for their record-breaking and crowd-pleasing displays—from Dodger Stadium to Formula One Las Vegas—Sky Elements will fill the Culver City skies with synchronized, illuminated imagery soaring up to 300 feet above Town Plaza.

A 1980s-Themed Celebration

This year’s celebration also features a playful 1980s theme, paying tribute to Culver City’s role in the golden era of filmmaking and pop culture. Attendees are encouraged to join the fun by dressing in '80s-inspired attire and enjoying nostalgic nods to the decade throughout the event.
