Commercial Project Document Submittal Requirements

General Information

Separate permits are required for each structure and for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work. This list is suggested minimum document submittal requirements. Some projects may not require all of these documents, while others may require additional documents and information. See Plan Thresholds for when plans are required.

Architectural plans

• Site plan, existing and proposed
• Site survey

• Fully dimensioned floor plan, reflected ceiling plan, and roof plan

• General notes, material specifications, and details
• Electrical power, lighting, and systems plans, including all circuiting and fixture designations, all wire sizes
• Load calculations, panel schedules, and diagrams

Plumbing Plans

• Project description, codes, consultant list, and sheet index
• General notes and material specifications
• Site utility plan showing all existing and proposed utilities and sizing calculations
• Waste and vent pipe sizing and calculations

Drawing Requirements:

Sheet Size: Minimum of 24" x 36"

Preparation: Black ink, drawn to scale, and fully dimensioned

Submission: Drawings can be submitted electronically but must be printed to full size for inspection

Clarity: Plans must clearly indicate the nature and extent of the proposed work and demonstrate compliance with all applicable codes, laws, ordinances, and regulations
